A sign of the times?

Filed under: Enlightenment,Equality,Homosexuality, rights and freedoms — tildeb @ 3:18 pm

gay rightsMaclean’s magazine in its March 18 edition reports that the Pump Nightclub in St. John, New Brunswick – a long time gay and lesbian club – will close its doors for the last time at the end of March. The reason for the drop in patrons the owners say is because younger gays and their non gay peers feel comfortable enough in each other’s company to go to mainstream clubs together. Although this is bad news for the club, its disuse by the next generation bodes well for establishing equality rights in the hearts and minds of a growing number of Canadians.

  2. The new pope says that equality rights “is not a simple political fight; It is the destructive claim to God’s plan.” Yup, god’s plan interpreted through the catholic hierarchy is to insist that legal inequality is right and proper and moral. Even before becoming pope, this guy had a direct connection to god and is simply its mouthpiece that knows all about these sorts of divine plans contrary to human rights, but we must believe that he’s humble rather than filled with colossal arrogance to presume this knowledge because he sometimes takes a bus to work! What a holy guy! What a man of ‘the people’! What a slave to 14th Century thinking.

Of course, he’s also against abortion and euthanasia and knows the devil’s work when he sees it. So… meet the new boss… same as the old boss.

Catholicism is stuck in the Dark Ages and cannot find moral illumination if it was whacked upside the head led forever and a day by these carbon-copy, autocratic, misogynistic, bigoted throwbacks. Why does anyone belong to this sick and perverted criminal organization? Intellectual cowardice and moral abdication, pure and simple.

    • The first error is belief in a god. The idea that there is a being beyond our realm of existence that cares about humans (let alone individual humans) is ludicrous in the extreme. Humanity will NEVER grow until we throw off belief in a god or gods.

  3. On a serious note – I think this appointment of the new Pope is a good thing…. why? you ask… – simple, because nothing has changed and that includes the number of people rejecting religion. This Pope sucks, religion sucks and the move obvious it sucks the better… hurrah for the new Pope may he crash and burn the Catholic empire with just as much talent as the previous monster.

    The Real Truth About Fossils

    • Yes – I have heard this argument before… fossils are faked (double face palm). I had a language teacher at school who was a Christian, and she claimed that ALL fossils were faked – these people must wander around the earth with their eyes shut. I find religious people are always in the floccinaucinihilipilification of the fossil record, the fact that we do not need it to demonstrate theory of evolution appears lost on them.
